U.S. chose wrong path on sanctions, will be defeated

GENEVA (Reuters) – The US has chosen the fallacious path in reimposing sanctions on Iran and can be defeated, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani stated Wednesday, in response to the Tasnim information company.

Washington reinstated sanctions focusing on Iran’s oil trade on Nov. 5 because it seeks to pressure the Islamic Republic to simply accept harder curbs on its nuclear program, halt its growth of ballistic missiles in addition to its assist for proxy forces in Syria, Iraq, Lebanon and Yemen.

“The People will certainly be defeated on this path. The trail they’ve chosen is fallacious and incorrect,” Rouhani stated. “If they’re being trustworthy and they’re in search of regional safety, this isn’t the trail. If they’re being trustworthy and respect the Iranian folks, this isn’t the trail.”

U.S. Nationwide Safety Adviser John Bolton stated Tuesday that Washington intends to step up enforcement of sanctions on Iran and “squeeze them very exhausting.”
