TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Iran’s semi-official Tasnim information company is reporting that President Hassan Rouhani’s brother has begun serving a five-year jail sentence on corruption fees.
Tasnim stated Wednesday that authorities had transferred Hossein Fereidoun to Tehran’s Evin jail.
Earlier in October, Iran’s judiciary stated an appeals court docket lowered Fereidoun’s sentence to 5 years from seven on bribery fees.
The fees date again to 2016, and had been introduced by hard-liners who dominate the nation’s judiciary.
Rouhani, a relative average inside Iran’s political system, modified his surname a long time in the past.
Fereidoun had performed a task as a part of the crew that negotiated Iran’s 2015 nuclear settlement with world powers.
