Putin says US ‘political dramas’ diverting focus from Russia

MOSCOW (AP) — Russian President Vladimir Putin says he’s happy that the “political battles” in Washington have placed on the back-burner accusations that Russia interfered in U.S. elections.

“Thank God,” he informed an financial discussion board within the Russian capital on Wednesday, “nobody is accusing us of interfering within the U.S. elections anymore; now they’re accusing Ukraine.”

Some Republicans have used the general public hearings to tout a discredited conspiracy idea that blames Ukraine, not Russia, for interfering within the U.S.’s 2016 presidential election.

Within the impeachment hearings, Democrats in Congress say U.S. President Donald Trump pressured his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, to research former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden whereas withholding U.S. navy help to Kyiv, and argue which may be grounds for eradicating Trump from workplace.
