ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s new chief election commissioner (CEC), Sikandar Sultan Raja, will take an oath today, ARY News reported Monday.
The oath-taking ceremony will be held in the Supreme Court of Pakistan. President of the Supreme Court Mr. Judge Gulzar Ahmed will administer the oath to the new chief of elections in Pakistan.
The oath ceremony is scheduled for 1:00 pm at the Supreme Court facilities.
The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs had notified Sikandar Sultan Raja, a former bureaucrat, as the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) on Friday for a period of five years.
In addition, the oath of the two members of the Electoral Commission of Pakistan (ECP) was also scheduled for today at the ECP headquarters in Islamabad.
The Chief Election Commissioner, Sikandar Sultan, will administer an oath to Nasir Durrani and Shah Mohammad Jatoi as members of the PCE of Sindh and Balochistan, respectively.
Parliamentary Affairs had notified the appointment of the two members after President Arif Alvi ratified his appointment under articles 213 and 215 read with article 48 of the Constitution.
The government and the opposition after a prolonged dialogue and a stalemate over the appointments of the electoral commission had recently reached an agreement for the CCA vacancies and two members of the electoral commission.
