It should be noted that the respiratory coronavirus has made more than 800 sick in China and killed at least 26. The outbreak began last month in the city of Wuhan in Hubei. Scientists have identified the disease as a new type of coronavirus, a large family of viruses, some of which cause the common cold.
Earlier, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) in Health, Dr. Zafar Mirza, said the country lacks facilities to detect the deadly coronavirus.
Dr. Zafar Mirza said in a statement that samples of suspicious cases will be sent to international laboratories for analysis.
The SAPM said the samples would be sent to laboratories in three countries, including China and the Netherlands, until laboratories capable of detecting coronaviruses are established in the country. He said the installation will be available in two weeks.
Health officials fear that the transmission rate may be accelerated as hundreds of millions of Chinese travel to their homes and abroad during a week’s holiday for the Lunar New Year, which begins on Saturday.
