Fans were shocked after a Twitter user shared a video showing James Corden’s Range Rover being towed while filming Carpool Karaoke, a popular segment of The Late Late Show with James Corden.
The recurring segment of the Los Angeles-based late night show typically shows Corden driving with a musical guest on his way to work while performing their hit songs by his side.
But it seems that the whole production – or at least a recent one – was just a little bit of magic from the film.
“I saw James Corden and Justin Bieber shoot carpool karaoke and that’s why I have trust issues – he’s not even driving!” Twitter user Zolihonig released Wednesday.
The video has been viewed over 12 million times and fans have mixed reactions.
“MY EVERY LIFE HAS BEEN A LIE,” tweeted a fan in capital letters.
While other fans have guaranteed Corden.
“When I saw the filming of One Direction, Carpool Karaoke James was actually driving,” tweeted a fan.
Late Late Show executive producer Ben Winston responded to the frenzy last Thursday to clarify.
“We only use a rig when we do a” stunt “as part of Carpool – when it would be impossible for James to drive! This only happened maybe 4 times in about 50 carpools … Safety is the key!” Winston tweeted.
And Corden joined the fun with a photo he posted on Twitter of him and Samuel L. Jackson on the set of a skit in which Corden drives a fake car. “Guys, we don’t even use a real car,” he tweeted.
But now that the producer himself has made it clear, you can sleep happily knowing that the show lives up to its name. Most of the time.
