Swarms of locusts assault standing crops in Sahiwal

SAHIWAL: After leaving their path of destruction in Sindh and Cholistan in Punjab, swarms of locusts have now attacked a whole lot of acres wheat and mustard crops in Sahiwal, ARY Information reported on Sunday.

The swarms of crop consuming grasshoppers have now landed in Sahiwal and surrounding areas. The locusts have attacked standing crops of wheat, mustard and potatoes on a whole lot of acres farmlands in Kumair, Harappa, Bangla, Cheechawatani and different areas of the area.

Provincial agriculture division has suggested farmers to undertake precautionary measures to guard their crops from the locusts assault.

The crop consuming bugs convey starvation with them by completely consuming crops and all vegetation they discover at anyplace.

In June this 12 months, swarms of locusts attacked cotton fields in Khairpur, Sukkur, and Ghotki districts in Sindh. Farmers needed to bear a whole lot of 1000’s of rupees losses attributable to crop loss within the assault.
