The ECP extends the deadline to register and rectify errors in the electoral lists until February 15

ISLAMABAD: The Electoral Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Saturday extended the deadline for citizens to register or rectify errors in the provisional electoral lists until February 15, 2020, reported ARY NEWS.

The electoral body previously set the last date to send the forms on January 24, 2020. In addition to extending the deadline, the ECP also announced that it will open the exhibition centers on Saturdays and Sundays until the deadline.

The electoral body has asked citizens in their message to ensure that their vote is registered at the permanent or existing address mentioned in the national identity document (NIC).

The ECP asked citizens to confirm their voting details by sending their NIC number via SMS to 8300.

If any person has to register or transfer the vote on the electoral list, the voter must obtain and send the form 15 available at the nominated exhibition centers of the electoral body throughout the country.

In case of omitting or presenting any objection in a vote, the applicant must acquire and submit form 16 at the center. However, in case of rectifying any error in the credentials submitted with the ECP by any voter, form 17 must be submitted.

The electoral agency has established 24,000 exhibition centers throughout the country for the verification of voters in the provisional electoral lists.

ECP said 12,300 exhibition centers have been established for more than 64.3 million voters in Punjab, while 4,000 exhibition centers have been established for 23.3 million voters in Sindh where they can review the preliminary lists, Radio Pakistan reported.

He said that these lists will remain on display for a month and that all voters should guarantee the registration of their vote according to the current or permanent address mentioned on the National Computerized Identity Card (CNIC).
