PTI leader Naeem Ul Haque dies

KARACHI: Special assistant to Prime Minister Imran Khan in political affairs, Naeemul Haque passed away Saturday after a long fight against cancer in a private hospital in the metropolis, ARY News reported.

Naeem-ul-Haq suffered from cancer for years and had been hospitalized in the past, regularly receiving treatment for it. The PTI leader was transferred to Agha Khan Hospital after his health worsened.

Naeemul Haque was one of the oldest members of the ruling party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

He held the office of information secretary of the party in the past and was also one of the five founding members along with the country’s prime minister, Imran Khan.

Prime Minister Imran Khan visited the sick politician on February 7 at his residence in Islamabad to ask about his health.

Assistant Prime Minister Aown Chaudhry and other Pakistani leaders Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) were also present at the occasion.

Condolences began arriving from all over Pakistan when the news of Haque’s disappearance was first heard.

The Federal Minister of Science and Technology, Fawad Chaudhry, went to Twitter like many to condolar the unfortunate disappearance.

He said: “Naeem Ul Haq fought like a lion against Cancer, a friend, an old man and a colleague … he will always be missed … may Allah rest his soul in peace #RIPNaeemUlHaq

The Federal Minister of Railways, Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, also sent his condolences and prayed for the strength and perseverance of his family and loved ones.
