ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said on Sunday his good wishes for the sick Hurriyat Conference leader, Syed Ali Gilani, and prayed for his recovery and long life, ARY NEWS reported.
In his video message, the Foreign Minister said that Gilani, who was a beacon of courage and perseverance, was fighting for the independence of occupied Kashmir.
“The people of Kashmir regard Syed Ali Gilani as a ray of hope in their fight against the Indian occupation of Kashmir,” he said.
The unwavering passion of the people of Kashmir has once again revealed that the people of the occupied territory cannot be held hostage through repressive acts, he said.
The Foreign Minister said that the people of Pakistan are next to the people of Kashmir in their struggle for self-determination. “The resolution of the Kashmir problem is necessary for a lasting peace in the region,” he said and added that they extend their full support to the people of the occupied territory.

On February 4, in occupied Kashmir, the president of the Hurriyat Conference of all parties, Syed Ali Gilani, expressed his gratitude to the people and government of Pakistan for observing on February 5 every year as Kashmir Solidarity Day.
In a statement in Srinagar, he said that the day has acquired special importance, as it is observed in the context of the illegal dispossession movement of India that occupied Jammu and Kashmir for their special status in contravention of international norms and resolutions of the United Nations on Kashmir.
