The Prime Minister can attend an international conference on Afghan refugees tomorrow

ISLAMABAD: The Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, is scheduled to participate in a dinner tonight at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in his honor, according to sources informed of the events, reported ARY News on Sunday.

It is claimed that the Afghan Refugee Conference scheduled for tomorrow will also be attended by the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan.

The UN Chief is scheduled to speak at the conference and will also meet with the Prime Minister, the President and the Head of the country’s Army in separate meetings.

Guterres will also be seen in a pictorial exhibition of the Pakistani peacekeeping forces of the UN that have and continue to play an important role in the world body, sources said.

Early in the day, the UN secretary general met with refugees from Afghanistan, Yemen and Tajikistan during an event in Islamabad. The refugees shared their experience in the education, business and skills development sectors with the UN chief during their meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, António Guterres said that Pakistan is a hospitable country and that it had especially welcomed Afghan refugees for a longer period. “I am grateful to Pakistan for their hospitality,” he said.

The United Nations Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, also reiterated his call for the Kashmir dispute to be resolved through dialogue while addressing a climate change conference in Islamabad this afternoon, and advised both countries to engage in meaningful dialogues for the peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute.
