Taking center stage in Sunday’s NBA All-Star Game, the Oscar-winning singer made an extraordinary rendition of Donny Hathaway’s classic “For All We Know (We May Meet Again)” in front of a photomontage by Bryant and Gianna .
At the NBA event, Hudson was introduced by the great basketball player Magic Johnson, who told attendees that he wanted everyone to “join” to honor Bryant and former NBA commissioner David Stern, who died on New Year’s Eve.
In addition to Hudson’s performance, the Chicago Common rapper honored Bryant in a tribute to words that touched his legacy.
“He used his game to touch the soul of the world, a king named Kobe Bryant who wore purple and gold,” said Common.
After news of Bryant’s death, Hudson shared a photo of the 18-star NBA All-Star on his Instagram page, saying it hurt her heart “so badly”.
“It’s like every time I go to sleep and then I wake up someone else leaves! This news hurts my heart so much!” he said to his 2.9 million followers.
