Afghan girl ambassador launches group to assist Afghan ladies

UNITED NATIONS (AP) — Afghanistan’s first feminine ambassador to the United Nations has began a U.N. group to guard the rights Afghan ladies gained after the Taliban was ousted from energy 18 years in the past, amid contemporary efforts to rekindle talks with the fundamentalist group to finish the nation’s long-running conflict.

Adela Raz advised reporters Tuesday she is “not completely sure” the Afghan authorities will insist on preserving ladies’s rights in talks with the Taliban, which is a key cause the Group of Pals of Girls in Afghanistan was fashioned.

The Taliban imposed a harsh type of Islamic regulation once they dominated Afghanistan in 1996-2001 that barred ladies from training and jobs and subjected them to stoning.

Raz says about 20 international locations with feminine ambassadors and deputy ambassadors have already joined the Group of Pals.
