All colleges in Lahore, Faisalabad to stay closed for 2 days

LAHORE: The Punjab authorities on Thursday introduced two-day vacation in all private and non-private colleges of Lahore, Gujranwala and Faisalabad because of poor air high quality and smog within the province, ARY Information reported.

All the colleges would stay closed on November 15 and 16 because of poor air high quality in Lahore, Faisalabad and Gujranwala, reads a notification issued by the Punjab authorities.

The announcement was made in a tweet by provincial minister for colleges schooling Dr Murad Raas.

“Punjab Authorities is taking all needed steps to enhance air high quality,” he wrote in a Tweet.

Earlier, the provincial authorities barred all private and non-private colleges from holding out of doors actions throughout the province for the protection of the youngsters until Dec 20 because of smog.

What’s Smog?

As winter begins, the areas of northern Punjab come underneath a thick layer of fog affecting the each day life and vehicular visitors. Motorways blocked and flights delayed or cancelled because of poor visibility.

The thick hazy layer understood to be winter’s fog is a noxious smog carrying critical well being hazards, specialists say.

Smog is air air pollution that reduces visibility. The time period “smog” was first used within the early 1900s to explain a mixture of smoke and fog. Smog is created by rising vehicular and industrial emissions and burning of coal and the stays of agriculture crops.
