Brisbane is the first city in Australia to receive access to Uber’s new car rental service, Uber Rent.
The rideshare platform launches a trial of the world’s first new feature, which allows users to rent a car through the Uber app.
To use Uber Rent, you must first update your Uber application to the latest version. If you are part of the initial launch, you can choose “Rentals”, where you will see a search page provided by CarTrawler – Uber car rental suppliers and partners. From there you can choose and order the car you want, as well as the date and location.
“While many Australians will go to the wine region, down the coast or explore the mountains in their own cars – not everyone has access to their own private vehicles,” Uber Australia and New Zealand, General Manager Dom Taylor said in a statement. “At Uber we believe you should always be able to get around, even if you don’t have your own car, and Uber Rent is another way to help people do that.”
Not everyone will have access to it at once. During the trial, this feature will only be available for 50% of ordinary Uber users. It will first be launched for 50% of application users in Brisbane before heading to users on the Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide.
