Woman booked because leaving her husband in Australia – city | Instant News

Police on Thursday charged a woman, her parents and brother with defrauding her husband of ₹ 38 lakh under the pretext of being married.

The accused have been identified as Harvinder Kaur, his father Ranjit Singh, mother Bhupinder Kaur and brother Mandeep Singh, all from Navi Abadi near Sudhar. They were charged under Sections 420 (fraudulent) and 406 (criminal offense of trust) of the Indian Criminal Code by Sadar police.

This case has been registered with the complaint of Naranjan Singh from Dehlon. The victim said that her son Navdeep Singh married Harvinder Kaur in July last year. She went to Australia to study and then called Navdeep to live with him. Immediately, she asked her parents and brother to come to Australia.

The complainant said he had given money to Harvinder to study in Australia, however, his family started harassing Navdeep and asking him to leave their home.

Initial investigations revealed that the woman and her parents had taken ₹ 38 lakh from the complainant under the pretext of being married.

The police have registered a case and started an investigation.
