The remaining flight crew all tested negative and were allowed to fly, without passengers, directly to their home ports. They left at 7am today. The mandatory quarantine program takes the approach that all arrivals abroad, regardless of whether they are negative, have the potential to carry the virus.
We have several cases of airline crew that have tested positive on passenger flights to Melbourne. We’ve taken the same approach to passengers and crew on this tennis charter flight.
All passengers are in a quarantine hotel, where they will undergo routine tests applicable to all international arrivals.
Passengers who have been designated as close contacts will not be able to access training and will undergo a standard quarantine period of 14 days. Players are encouraged to access equipment for their hotel rooms to help them maintain fitness during this time.
They are transported under strict IPC protocol, quarantined and tested.
Before someone can leave quarantine after 14 days, they must first get medical clearance by a public health professional.
