US President Donald Trump said he postponed the G7 summit, which has been scheduled for the end of June, until September.
Trump said he wanted to invite Australia, Russia, South Korea and India to the meeting, and that the G7 in its current format was “a group of countries that are very outdated”.
“I postponed it because I didn’t feel that as a G7 it truly represented what was happening in the world,” Trump said.
The decision was a dramatic axis for Trump, who tried to host a group of major industrial nations in Washington as a demonstration that the United States returned to normal after the corona virus epidemic.
COVID-19 killed more than 103,000 Americans to date.
The G7 group includes Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States.
More will come.
