BRAZILIA, April 7 (Reuters) – The Brazilian government will spend whatever it takes to help people and businesses overcome the economic hardships caused by coronaviruses, Finance Minister Mansueto Almeida said on Tuesday, warning, however, that spending from next year onwards must brought back under control.

Speaking in a direct debate guided by the O Globo and Valor Economico newspapers, Almeida said it would be “a mistake” to allow emergency measures taken this year to turn into permanent expenditure, which could put strained public finances under the long-term even greater in the long run greater pressure.
