Brazil has recorded 888 more deaths than the new corona virus, increasing the country’s death toll to 18,859, health officials said Thursday.
There were also 19,954 new cases registered during the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 291,579, according to the Department of Health.
The recovery calculation has reached 116,683.
After originating from China last December, COVID-19, a disease caused by coronavirus, has spread to at least 188 countries and regions, with Europe and the US currently at its worst.
The pandemic has killed more than 328,000 people worldwide, with around 5 million confirmed cases and nearly 1.9 million recovery, according to figures compiled by Johns Hopkins University in the US.
When the number of victims approached 19,000, Brazil was the third country in the world that was most severely affected by the corona virus.
