David Beckham said the only “silver lining” of the British lockdown at the moment was that it allowed him to spend more time with his family.

The 44-year-old retired soccer star is currently at home in the Cotswolds amid a coronavirus pandemic and, speaking at ‘Global Citizen One World: Together at Home’, David revealed that he enjoyed the opportunity to spend time with his family.

The sports icon – which has Brooklyn, 21, Romeo, 17, Cruz, 15, and Harper, eight, with his wife Victoria – explains: “It’s nice to join you for this extraordinary event. If there is any wisdom in this situation is spending time together. as a family and for that we thank you.

‘Global Citizen One World: Together at Home’ was curated by Lady Gaga in supporting frontline health workers during the current crisis.

He said: “Our thanks go to all health workers throughout the world who have worked so hard to leave their families to go to work to protect us and their children.”

David and Victoria, 46 – who have been married since 1999 – also introduced the show from their showbiz friend, Sir Elton John.
