Producers of the 2020 Book + Art Music Project at Mardi Gras World in New Orleans initially postponed their events from mid-March to Labor Day weekend because coronavirus pandemic.
But they have now decided to cancel Book 2020 completely.
The book was produced by local-based Winter Circle Productions, which joined AEG Presents, a global direct entertainment center, in 2015 to manage AEG’s new Gulf Coast office.
The Winter Circle team released a statement on Tuesday that reads in part, “The world was a different place 3 weeks ago when we were forced to cancel the Book and make quick calls to reschedule for Labor Day weekend. Maybe we were naive, but the COVID crisis seemed to be able controlled at the time, and we did the only thing we knew how … we fought for the show and the fans, quickly re-ordered the entire lineup for Labor Day ….
“But then, when the pandemic began to destroy New Orleans, and now when we see cases exceeding one million worldwide, it doesn’t seem right to plan a music festival for the end of this year and get everyone involved through greater uncertainty.”
The statement continued, “From the bottom of our hearts, we apologize for raising your expectations about rescheduling. But in reality, no one has a crystal ball, and a Book planned at an uncertain time may not produce a Book experience without burden. you deserve. “
The 2020 Book + Art Music project has been postponed due to a coronavirus outbreak.
Book 2021 is scheduled for March 19-20. Fans who buy tickets for the 2020 event which is now canceled will be able to use tickets next year, or can receive a full refund. According to the Winter Circle statement, the ticket holder will receive an email containing the details of the refund.
As part of an underground cellar party, part of an urban music festival, the Book describes itself as a celebration of the “progressive subculture of New Orleans,” with an emphasis on electronic dance music and underground hip-hop.
Initially, Buku will take over the vast Mardi Gras World complex on the riverbank from March 20-21. The nine-year-old event is expected to attract a crowd of around 17,000 participants from across the country on each of the two days.
This year’s list includes rapper Tyler, Creator, electronic dance music announcer / producer of Flume and Illenium, and British psychedelic band, Glass Animals, plus Run The Jewels, Alison Wonderland, Zeds Dead, Kaytranada, Megan Thee Stallion, Charli XCX, Roddy Rich , Flatbush Zombies, Taking Back Sunday and dozens of additional actions.
