Wait a minute … Bill Murray might have an unfair advantage, considering we all know how Guy Fieri is “Nacho Trash Can” made for.
Murray and Fieri – refresh their nacho segment on “The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon – get ready to get ready for the virtual nacho making competition scheduled to air on Friday, May 15, on Food Network’s Facebook page.
Their upcoming “Nacho Average Showdown,” as it is called, is being held by Tostitos with the aim of raising money for Restaurant Employee Assistance Fund (RERF), the old one created by Fieri and the National Restaurant Association Education Foundation to help raise money for restaurant operators and employees who don’t work.
“With 8 million restaurant workers unemployed due to COVID-19, this event will provide laughter and raise much-needed funds for American restaurant workers facing financial difficulties,” reads a press release for the event.
Fieri and Murray will not be the only competitors, either: The event is described as a “four-way virtual showdown” which will also include the son of Fieri Hunter, who often appears on his father’s show, and son of Murray Homer, who owns and operates a restaurant in Brooklyn. The star-studded event will be hosted by Food Network’s personality, Carla Hall, and judged by Shaquille O’Neal and actor Terry Crews.
Viewers will also be encouraged to donate to RERF while watching Guy, Bill, Hunter and Homer test their nacho making skills.
Fans of Fieri and Murray might remember that the two recently appeared on “The Tonight Show” to tempt their upcoming competition, and also to instruct Jimmy Fallon about the correct way to make a plate of nachos. Murray, it should be noted, also encouraged the three to try the spicy sauce, because there seemed to be no other reason than to cheer himself up.
Murray also failed to reveal if he would bring an extra large garbage can to help make his nachos on Friday, just in case Fieri was up to him Old tricks again.
“Nacho Average Showdown” will flow on the Food Network Facebook page at 5 pm. EST, Friday, May 15.
