Abby Elliott Almost Starred in ‘Schitt’s Creek’| Instant News

Of all the fish-out-water stories done for TV, Schitt River is one of the best ever done. Not surprisingly, it came from Canada, where films and shows about down-to-earth are an art form. In this comedy series, there is also a big evolution for one of its main characters: Alexis Rose (played by Annie Murphy).

As a daughter of Johnny and Moira Rose (Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara), plus sister David Rose (Dan Levy), Alexis is a spoiled classic mischievous character. Adjusting to life at Schitt’s Creek after a special life because of the fame of his parents has become a fun comedy to watch.

Murphy gets all the praise for making his character memorable, but comedian Abby Elliott almost plays his part. The influence of certain cast members is the reason this almost happens.

The landing of Chris Elliott was a coup for Eugene and Dan Levy when they became candidates Schitt River. He has long been known as an extraordinary comedian who appeared on NBC’s original late night show David Letterman and many other film / TV roles.

Plus, being the son of the late comedian Bob Elliott gave him the perfect pedigree to play the mayor of Schitt’s Creek, Roland.

It so happened that Abby Elliott was his daughter. Most people will remember him as a former member of the cast Saturday Night Live from 2008-2012, How I met your mother and Inside Amy Schumer.

While he was busy with various guest shows and photos in 2015, Chris Elliott recommended his daughter to play Alexis Rose when the show was in the casting phase.

She auditioned and fit the description of what Eugene Levy was looking for, like being blonde.

According to the latest interview with Annie Murphy in an Marie Claire interviewSpecial circumstances with Abby Elliott helped pave the way to the former landing section. How that happened was probably one of the luckiest turns for TV roles.

Annie Murphy is struggling to find the right TV role

Luckily breaks often occur when an actor is stuck in a frustrated place finding the best role showing their talents. In Marie Claire’s interview above, Murphy said she was looking for a comedy role after asking the directors to put her in a comedy. Some actors suffer from being pigeonholed in certain types of roles when they know their strong clothes do something else.

If Hollywood’s mistakes continually stereotype everyone, sometimes things happen at the right time. Incidentally Elliott had another commitment and left the role of Alexis Rose.

And Levy encouraged Murphy to play Alexis after Elliott left. Because Elliott had played Alexis in the pilot, Eugene Levy had difficulty getting used to the brunette played by Murphy. This is the purpose of hair dyes, and they fix it to make it have lighter hair color.

Even so, Murphy play Alexis like a real character instead of blonde caricatures, won a lot of fans. What Elliott fans might want to know is whether he considers this a missed opportunity or just the name of the game in the entertainment world.

What has Abby Elliott done since losing the role of Alexis?

There was clearly no hard feelings from Chris Elliott about his daughter losing Alexis. Elliott’s father made his Roland character almost an icon of his own.

As for her daughter, she made a new series landing from producer Dan Levy. Yes, Levys is now a hot TV producer and is creating other media properties. He clearly remembered Elliott and hired him for Levy new NBC series Owe a favor. This sitcom is starring Fran Drescher, Steven Weber, and Adam Pally.

Elliott plays Rebecca, wife of Dave Klein of Pally, with both forced to accept their parents after they go bankrupt. As a sitcom in accordance with the times, it might give Elliott the opportunity to create a long-running classic character.

Meanwhile, Annie Murphy looked for the next showbiz way after realizing the role of Alexis was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for six seasons.
