Good Morning English presenter Piers Morgan has released the latest news about Kate Garraway’s husband.
Derek Draper, 52, has been in intensive care in a coma for the past seven weeks after contracting Covid-19.
Wife and presenter Kate has renewed her fans on her condition every Thursday during Clap For Carers.
Speaking at GMB today, Piers said: “We haven’t talked about it much because Kate Garraway is going through hell like a lot of people.
“Her husband has been in very serious condition for several weeks.
“We can all hope and pray he comes through, but it has been very, very difficult for Kate and her family.
“We miss him here on the show, obviously we often deal with him.
“We sent him and the children all our love and we only wish the best for Derek.”
Co-host Susanna Reid added: “We haven’t talked much, we left it to Kate because on Thursday during Clap for Carers, Kate did an update on Instagram and then on Friday Ben gave us an update too.”
Last week, Kate told her Instagram followers that she had FaceTimed her husband in the hospital in the hope that he could hear the support he received.
He said: “So our #nhsclap is a little different tonight.
“We are still clapping and cheering, but I can’t film on my cellphone like Derek on FaceTime all the time! – of course we can’t KNOW but I believe he can hear us & think at least the amazing @nhs team took care of him. will hear some of our gratitude. “
