Tom Hanks to Oakland Skyline High Class 2020 – NBC Bay Area | Instant News

Skyline High School class in 2020 gets BIG Surprise during the virtual commencement ceremony on Friday.

Oscar-winning actor Tom Hanks, a 1974 graduate of Skyline High, participated in the ceremony of his former high school by delivering video messages to graduates.

“Somewhere beyond the fate of every middle school student, you are chosen to graduate this year, in 2020, to begin the next chapter of your life before and amid so many changes,” Hanks told his message to begin with graduates.

The most famous Skyline High graduates then proceed to remind students that they will be responsible for opening the way in the world after a pandemic.

“Good luck to you. I want to think that when Skyline High School gives me direction and instinct to follow, the same thing happens to you,” Hanks said. “Follow those instincts. And always understand that you have been chosen by destiny to lead the way in whatever our post-pandemic world will be. Make it a great world, right? We all rely on you.”
