Eduardo Rodriguez The eSports career did not start off strong on Friday night. Representing the Red Sox on the Internet league-wide “MLB The Show Players League,” Rodriguez lost all four of his three round robin inning and outcored 17-0 matches in his first appearance in a round-robin tournament.
First, Rodriguez lost to Lance McCullers Jr. Houston by a score of 7-0. Furthermore, the ace Blake Snell’s ace beat him 6-0. Cincinnati Amir Garrett (1-0) and Trevor May of Minnesota (3-0) won to put Rodriguez at the bottom of the AL East standings at the end of the first day of play.
Rodriguez, who often posted Fortnite’s stream to Twitter, Is one of the six major leagues playing Friday night. Texas’ Joey Gallo went 4-0 while Garrett went 3-1. Six more players will feel their first action on Saturday night and Rodriguez will return to action next week as he continues his round-robin tour against 29 other participants.
By participating, Rodriguez will bring home $ 5,000 for the Boys & Girls Club in the Boston area. The tournament winner will receive an additional $ 25,000 for their local club.
Luckily for the Red Sox, Rodriguez is far better at real baseball. He is expected to lead Boston’s rotation which is reduced in 2020 after going 19-6 and 3.81 and ERA won sixth place in the AL Cy Young ballot a year ago.
