As part of the 2021 Golden Joystick Awards, we’re celebrating 50 years of gaming with two very special categories for this year’s event: Best Gaming Device of All Time and Best Game of All Time.
The list, sorted by the number of votes each game received, shows how many all-time classic Dark Souls must be defeated to earn the crown. In second place, we have one of the most important first-person shooters of all time in Doom, while Link’s incredible open-world adventure in Breath of the Wild takes the 3rd place. You can find out more about how we selected the shortlist for Ultimate Game of All Time by heading over to us explanation.
In our feature on why Dark Souls is the Best Game of All Time, Joe Donnelly wrote: “We’ll be talking about Dark Souls in another 10 years, and another 10 years after that again. In Dark Souls, we’re told that history repeats itself. But in reality, it’s likely that there will never be a game like that again.”
