UWM coach Kyle Rechlicz appreciates the match against his alma mater UW | Instant News

A match between any of the state’s four Division I college basketball programs is always a noteworthy event.

But for UW-Milwaukee women’s coach Kyle Rechlicz, the game against the Wisconsin Badgers means little else.

His Panthers fought Badgers – his alma mater and employer before he was hired at UWM in May 2012 – on Wednesday night at the Klotsche Center in a pre-Thanksgiving, non-conference tilt-matching program at a very different venue.

Megan Walstad had a monster game with 21 points, eight rebounds and four assists in 38 minutes, leading the way to a 79-67 Panthers win, while getting plenty of help from her teammates.

As a team, UWM turned the Badgers’ 17 turnovers to 23 points and delivered their best shooting performance effortlessly at 53.6% (30 for 56).
