During this pandemic, people are looking for things they can do at home. There are many board games that you can play with your family, and they might just collect dust in the cupboard. Here are two of my family’s favorites:
Monopoly is a game of two to eight players based on real estate. The aim is to remain financially stable throughout the game and try to make others bankrupt. A player benefits by buying pieces of property and collecting rent when another player lands on your property. Movement is arranged by a roll of dice. You decide what building you are able to build after you reach a “monopoly” by owning adjacent property. You have to spend money to make money, while trying to avoid financial risks – and also bad luck.
This is always a fun game to play with my family; it helped me get into finance and real estate with a fun twist. Learning about real estate and finance can be an advantage for me later on.
Another game my family plays is Candy Land. Even though the game isn’t realistic, it’s fun, especially if you have siblings. This is a two to four player game, and the goal is to reach “Candy Land” before anyone else. It’s not easy to avoid obstacles that will bother you to get to Candy Land.
My family often played this when I was very young and opening the game again brought back happy memories.
So, if you are bored with all those video games, try board games – it’s an antidote to boredom.
