Lake County Captains, WJCU partners to broadcast the game | Instant News

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Captain Lake County partnered with John Carroll University and WJCU, the university’s official student radio station, for the 2021 season.

Games will be broadcast live through WJCU.org with Captains play-by-play announcers Andrew Luftglass and Brian McLaughlin. The streaming link will be available via CaptainsBaseball.com. WJCU broadcasts music, sports and news via 88.7 FM, but the matches will be broadcast via streaming only.

As part of the deal, the Captain will select one student to join the broadcasting team as a paid radio producer. Students will learn how to make a baseball broadcast, contribute to broadcast content, and gain experience at the Captain’s front office.

“This partnership will provide excellent opportunities for John Carroll’s students to gain real-world experience in producing professional quality broadcasts,” said WJCU Director Jasen Sokol in a release.

The Captains – India’s High-A affiliate – open their season on Tuesday, May 4, with six street draws against Lansing Lugnuts. Lake County opens at home on Tuesday, May 11 vs Fort Wayne TinCaps.

To limit travel, the minor league schedule has been drawn up around six draws against one opponent at a time. Health and safety protocols will be announced before the season.
