That Washington Redskins is one of two NFL team which did not receive prime-time games in 2020. Whereas the Redskins and Detroit Lions will play on the national stage on Thanksgiving, they will not have the chance to show their potential under the lights at any point this coming season. Thirteen of the 16 Redskins matches will start at 1 pm. ET, while their contest is against Arizona Cardinals on Week 2 and San Francisco 49ers in Week 4 it will start at 4:05 pm and 4:25 pm ET, respectively.
The new Redskins head coach, Ron Rivera recently said that he was happy with this development, because he was not a fan of the inaugural match. The weeks where you start slower than every other team force you to change your routine, and build a routine equal to winning.
“I can [sic] don’t care if we get primetime games, “Rivera said, through the Redskins official website.” The only thing I can say to everyone is, ‘It’s OK. It doesn’t matter when you watch us; You will enjoy us. ‘”
Rivera has a lot of work to do after the 3-13 campaign in Washington last season. He needs to find out if he has a legitimate starting quarterback Dwayne Haskins, if he has a reliable secondary and if this defensive front will be able to transition to base 4-3 easily. Rivera has put together a good offseason so far, because he chose the best player in the draft Chase Young, and pick up some interesting offensive weapons for Haskins like Antonio Gibson and Antonio Gandy-Golden.
When it comes to expectations for his first season in Washington, Rivera does not always aim for a specific win / lose record. He wants to see that his team is improving and has the ability to play smart football.
“My hope for this football team is to grow, to become better, to improve,” Rivera said. “Every time we step on the soccer field, I hope these people give 100 percent, without a doubt. The excitement about us has to be about the way we play. We have to play hard, fast, physical football. I want people who will go go there and play smart football, I don’t need people to go out and do silly things and get themselves into trouble and all that stuff, all my things are to make sure the products we put on the soccer field for our fans are kind the right product, and that is a stubborn style of football. “
