Facebook accidentally stored hundreds of millions of people’s passwords in plain text for years

Facebook saved lots of of thousands and thousands of consumer passwords in plain textual content information, the social community has admitted.

The error was revealed in a blog post that detailed how passwords had been saved in a readable format inside its inside information storage methods.

Pedro Canahuati, Fb’s vp of engineering, safety and privateness, stated the passwords had been seen to Fb staff, however claimed there was no proof that anybody abused or improperly accessed them.

“We estimate that we are going to notify lots of of thousands and thousands of Fb Lite customers, tens of thousands and thousands of different Fb customers, and tens of 1000’s of Instagram customers,” he wrote.
