Whether you realize it or not, the way you dress and the brand that you are inspired by may be influenced by Black culture. And today, more than ever, it’s very important for us to give credit where credit is given and to support Black’s fashion brands that continue to pave the way for the entire industry.
While it’s true that small businesses are being hit hard right now because of the economic downturn and global store closures caused by the Coronavirus pandemic, it’s also true that minority-owned brands receive a smaller loan than those run by non-minorities. This means that business owners are forced to use their own money to run their businesses.

“I ask you to commit to buying 15% of your product from Black’s business. So much of your business is built on the purchasing power of black people. So many of your stores are established in the Black community. So many of your posts are seen in Black bait. This is the most you can do for us. We represent 15% of the population and we need to represent 15% of your shelf space, “the designer explained on Instagram. Net-A-Porter, Shopbop, Walmart, Saks Fifth Avenue and Target are some retailers called James.

Under the creative direction of Aurora James, Brother Vellies’s collection of shoes and handbags from South Africa, Ethiopia, Kenya and Morocco has become one of the most desirable brands among fashion girls and “It” celebrities. James has committed to using textiles and local sources employ craftsmen from these places he paid a living wage.
This luxury inclusive concept shop, founded by Sherri McMullen in 2007, it housed some of the best labels in fashion including Jacquémus, Khaite, Christopher John Rogers and many more. Women’s Wear Daily calls McCullen one of the top boutiques in the country.
Don’t @ me, but Christopher John Rogers is by far the most important and interesting designer to get out of New York Fashion Week in the last seasons. The 26-year-old Louisiana-born designer won the CFDA / Vogue Fashion Fund 2019 and has since dressed everyone from Rihanna to Tracee Ellis Ross and more. Rogers’s refreshing approach to foundation comes in the form of rich fabrics and bold colors. You can shop the collection online at Net-A-Porter and McCullen.
When it comes to hugging women’s bodies, a collection of ready-to-wear women’s clothing and accessories Carly Cushnie is one of my favorite luxury brands. From dresses that will take you from the office to weddings and separate electrical suits for your daily life, Cushnie has become a staple for wardrobe items for people like Michelle Obama, Goldie Hawn, Beyoncé, and more.
This innovative online retail store based in New York City provides the perfect mix of luxe and new talent from Africa to help brands reach new audiences and increase profits.
