That Wisconsin Badgers will welcome nerds from Northwestern to Madison on Wednesday evening.
When I looked at their uniforms as they got ready to write this blog, I was surprised to see that none of them had buckle belts for their cell phones, or jersey chest pockets for pencils and all kinds of weird stuff … but then again , it may get in the way of hooping.
As a reminder, we will rate the opponent’s thread on a scale oh baby, no, to YAASS QUEEN.
Oh baby, no: Obviously, this is the worst ranking. If I had to explain this to you, right now you’re probably wearing socks with sandals, or a brown belt with black pants, oh baby, no.
Ewww: Nice try, but no.
Do: You brought it.
QUEEN YAASS: The best of the best. Your proverbial milkshake brings all the adage boys to the page.
School: Northwestern University
Mascot: Wild cat
Color schemes: White and Purple
Official Brand Sponsor: Under Armor
The Northwestern home uniform is white, with the ‘Northwestern’ purple on the chest and the player number also appearing in purple.
The purple stripes appear on the shoulders of the jersey, and while they are subtle, I like the way they use thin purple stripes, which leave room for uniform whites and then have a thicker purple stripe down the middle.
The same line appears on the shorts in a broken way, with a Northwestern ‘N’ displayed between the stripes.
This uniform is very aesthetic in my opinion. It might help their case that they were just about a copy of the Wisconsin home thread, given the common brand sponsorship.
Purple accents on a white background look great and these nerds look fresh on their home page.
Home jersey score:
Northwestern’s away jersey is purple, with the ‘Northwestern’ on the chest white, with the player number also white.
A black stripe, with a white stripe appears on the shoulders of the jersey and the shorts feature a black dotted line, with a white stripe, with a Northwestern ‘N’ displayed between the stripes.
Just like most of the Top Ten teams, their away jersey just doesn’t suit me. The darker base is solid, but the white accents don’t look as good when the same accent is displayed on a white background.
Away jersey score:
Northwestern had just worn them that night against Iowa and they were very sick. They are the gray version of their uniform.
Just like their other uniforms, ‘Northwestern’ appeared on the chest in purple, with the player numbers in purple as well, with white stripes.
There are purple short stripes, with a white stripe on the shoulders of the jersey and the same dotted line design appearing on the shorts, with the Northwestern ‘N’ featured prominently.
This shirt is a fresh look and a great use of alternative colors, as the Northwestern home kit is white and their away kit is purple. I think the only thing missing is the white border around ‘Northwestern.’
Northwestern’s second alternate kit is their Gothic jersey, which in my opinion is way better than their Gothic soccer jersey.
The uniform is black, with a ‘Northwestern’ on the chest uniform in a Gothic-ish font, with gold. Their number is also gold. Stripes appear on the shoulders of the jersey which are gold, black, purple, black, gold, keeping in line with the alternative color scheme.
The same stripes appear on the sides of their shorts in one straight line, starting at about a third of the leg, with a Northwestern ‘N’ on both shorts legs, in front of the stripes. There is also a mottled design that appears on the front of each leg.
Like I said, I prefer these more than I do on football shirts, because they work better as a basketball jersey. Because of this, they don’t do it for me like other Wildcat threads.
Northwestern also used to wear a black version of their shirt, but I haven’t seen them wear it this season, so I’m not sure if it’s still in their rotation.

Gray: Do it
