It’s new year and new semester, and that means going out with the old and with the new for your winter wardrobe. Not sure where to start while doing a little wardrobe update? Here are five wearable clothing trends that will keep you stylish all season (and warm on your way to class!).
This season all about layers. Try lining a turtleneck under your favorite t-shirt or t-shirt. Still not warm enough? Coat a puffer coat to give yourself extra warmth. Finish the look with your favorite pair of jeans and boots, and you’ve got a functional yet stylish outfit to take anywhere of the day.
You heard it here first: yes, the flared yoga pants you haven’t been wearing since high school (and it’s probably under your bed at home behind a few boxes and various pairs of shoes) are back in style. The jury is still out on how long these will last, but for a comfortable alternative to leggings or sweatpants, try yoga pants with white sneakers, a t-shirt (why not try turtlenecks in here?), And a puffer jacket. You have a comfortable yet fashionable outfit for class.
Remember the claw clip your mom used to wear? Get one, because claw clips are back in style and the perfect way to style your hair in a soft, casual style. This is probably one of the easiest ways to remove facial hair quickly without having to spend half an hour in front of the mirror, not to mention it’s easy and pretty to wear with a face mask. The best part? This look is perfect for your leggings-and-t-shirt and wear-this-on-Pinterest days.
I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the trends sending shock waves (in the best possible way) through this winter season: shacket, or “shirt jacket”. A thicker alternative to regular flannel, this on-trend variation has been paired with just about anything you can think of. It’s an easy, chic layer to accentuate any outfit: my favorite is to pair it with a turtleneck and jeans or a casual dress.
It’s no secret that denim has gotten more and more ill-fitting in recent years, and most recently flared denim. (Is this the latest trend or is it just getting recycled? You decide.) Try on high-waisted shoes with white sneakers and a cute sweater, and you’ll get a trendy look in winter jeans and sweaters.
