American singer, songwriter and actress Teyana Taylor has launched her first fashion collection with British online retailer PrettyLittleThing since being appointed creative director of the brand in a year-long partnership.
Taylor’s debut collection for the brand, launched on January 25th, combines “girl girl” with “tomboy edge” and offers a “one fits all” as the cuts range from UK sizes 4 to 26.
This 25-piece collection pays homage to his vision of a 90s aesthetic “where high fashion couture meets streetwear” and features a multi-purpose jacket with a matching faux leather runner and a bodycon dress in mesh, print and slogan. The key prints are bohemian snake and paisley prints, alongside neon, soft grays, and browns.
Commenting on her edit with PrettyLittleThing, Taylor said in a statement: “I have always felt my journey was about helping others realize their visions. I’ve always been a supervisor, just wanting to be 100 percent creatively involved in everything I do.
“Being a creative director, I don’t just sit on the board, I won’t sit at the table just designing. You can really explore your ideas. There’s so much you have to do – it’s really exciting and I have so much freedom to be allowed to design this collection from scratch with the team. I would never just put my name on something and not want to get fully involved and really put everything I have into it. “
