Base: Miami Open Fashion Faults: Mattek- Sands misses | Instant News

The Miami Open has come and gone, and so have many others fashion ace.

The list below: not the winners, because the fashion game has been noticed for the past week and a half. Expect all of these players, including some surprises, to head over to the tour of Roland Garros. For now, they are the “victims” of our (temporary) fashion glitch.

Sporting Nike as usual, Taylor Fritz finds himself in the classic case of “whether you wore the garment, or he wore yours.” This shirt appears to be a tribute to Andy Roddick: one size too big. Sidebar: What exactly is the hair situation? Call it follicular stupidity, in that Florida heat.

Two-for-one image here: Double partner Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Swiatek Ribs each missing, in a different way, in terms of sense of style. A product of his Lucky in Love line, BMS looks too much like Guy Fieri’s for anyone’s (good) taste, and a bit up the nose for Miami. (Breaking: it’s scorching hot in here.) And Swiatek, through no fault of his own, shouldn’t be wearing equipment that resembles his Grand Slam appearance from three majors ago, when he won in Paris. Let’s go, Asics.

Usually lately, Fila wins. Diego Schwartzman didn’t do it, however, in that somewhat messy looking kit it’s a pair that’s too much blue (read: a lot of sweaty) and just boring at the end of the day. Fashion ace Reilly Opelka and, on the WTA side, Sofia Kenin have a much more inspired look from the brand.

Save this in the same “not his fault” folder as Swiatek: Amanda Anisimova was a budding star on the WTA Tour, and therefore had to wear star clothing. Not so with the retread from the Australian Open, which also does nothing but say “spring, in the United States” to anyone. All eyes are on what Nike is doing next, with him and others, in Paris.

Marcos Giron become a “guilty” fashion cop for the same fashion mistakes that befell Schwartzman. At the California-based Leorever brand, she appears dressed to wake up. (Not a wakeboarding outing, but a real wake. Funeral.)

Unfortunately these players don’t shine with style wise in Miami, but with Roland Garros around the corner there is time to redeem themselves during the claycourt season.
