RACC students distribute free food in downtown Reading | Berks and Beyond | Instant News

Rich Maldonado and Roger Patrick want to help people during the coronavirus pandemic.

Two Reading Area Community Area students decided to start offering free food to people on the street.

Maldonado and Patrick held their second feed at a community event Friday from 3 to 6 pm on the Fourth and Penn streets.

About 90 minutes after the event, they have served 30 to 40 people, said Maldonado.

On the menu there are cold sandwiches, fried chicken, mac and cheese, macaroni salad, potato salad and drinks.

Maldonado and his dancer team, Together We Stand Dance Movement, danced on the sidewalk when 610 Problem DJ played music.

“If you are hungry or thirsty just walk and, boom, you can take something,” Maldonado said.

Maldonado also accepts donations and sells shirts. The money collected is used to buy food and drinks.
