Make food with food that you already have at home | Instant News

We continue to see Coronavirus cases are rising not only in our country, but throughout the United States. Now I know that there are people who struggle to make ends meet, or even adjust to relying on one income. I have talked a lot over the phone with my friends and family (FaceTime is also a great way to connect). During this conversation, several people have told me about something I had to share!

There are websites and applications that allow you to include food you already have at home, and they will tell you food or snacks that you can make with these items! I just started putting what I have in my kitchen and fridge and BAM, I have an idea for what to eat! I’ve made smoothies with bananas, spinach, blueberries and peanut butter (yum)! I also made pasta lunch with some noodles and vegetables in the fridge and freezer! I also included the spices and herbs that I had, and that was also included in my food!

I know very well know, I do whatever I can to try and “do” with what I have. This is a way to save money and can also help people go to the grocery store less often. At least for me, I feel like a small discovery like this, which makes me excited. I like to try new things. And because we’re pretty much stuck at home, this gives me something to do and cooking keeps me busy!

Every time people meet me, they say, “Your last name is definitely Italian!” My last name is Bettineschi (Bettineschi does sound like pasta sauce). BUT let me tell you, I didn’t get cooking genes. Cooking has become a learning process for me. I’ve tried making my grandmother’s recipe and it tastes NEVER the same! So cooking is a new challenge that I took, and this website and application might be a new way to help me get through the learning process!

Here are some sites and applications that I found that can help you too!
