SPRING VALLEY – More than 1,400 boxes of fresh food were distributed in Spring Valley on Friday to provide assistance to those negatively affected by the continuing Coronavirus pandemic.

The food was donated through PCNY in the Streets, the Garden of Edan Foundation, and 4MyCity.

“While it is hard to see so many people in dire need, it is also gratifying to see so many people from all walks of life coming together to help,” said Rockland Region Legislator Aron Wieder.

Wieder was joined by Spring Valley Mayor Alan Simon, Spring Valley Police Sergeant. Rony Charles, Haverstraw community activist Alfredo Sanchez, and dozens of others helped distribute the food.

Sgt. Charles, who heads the police department’s youth program, said the boxes contained fresh food including eggs and other dairy products, fruit, vegetables, chicken and other foods.
