On Thursday, October 29, Governor Kemp announced Ken’s Foods would invest $ 103 million to expand their McDonough production and distribution operations. Ken’s Foods is one of Henry County’s largest employers, with approximately 500 employees.
Known for their dressings, sauces and marinades, Ken’s Foods manufactures and packages more than 400 different sauces and seasonings. Ken’s Foods also produces and bottles many specialty sauces for local businesses and other well-known food companies.
Ken’s Foods is located on King Mill Road in Midland Industrial Park and has maintained a Henry County presence since 1997. Earlier this year, the company purchased thirty-five acres across the street from its manufacturing facility. A new 343,625 square foot building will be constructed on the property to consolidate the operation of the company’s support facilities.
The project will also include new production lines and building upgrades for existing manufacturing operations. The expansion will create 70 additional jobs, including positions in food processing, manufacturing, and distribution, along with careers in management and supervision. “Our community has shown once again that we are a great place for business. Henry County is grateful for Ken’s Foods’ sustainable investment and job creation. ” said Chairman of the Board of Commissioners Henry County June Wood, who is also a member of the Council of the Georgia Department of Economic Development. “In addition to the new jobs and investment this expansion will bring to our community, we anticipate that Ken’s consolidation of operations to his new building in Henry will move more than 40 trucks per day from the busy Georgia Highway 155 corridor.”
Ken’s Foods joins several companies – including Zinus USA, Inc. and Purple mattress – in making new job announcements this year. In the first quarter of fiscal 2021, Henry County represented 21% of the total state employment that announced 2,114 new positions during that time.
