MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – United Way of Monongalia and Preston Counties have once again shown their dedication to the community – this time on a drive-thru food drive.
The drive is being held at Weimar Hyundai on Saturday and the goal is to gather supplies for all 35 United Way-supported kitchens in Mon and Preston Counties.
“We are trying to fill our U-Haul with personal hygiene items, cleaning items and non-perishable food to fill our food bank,” said Amy Schwinabart, manager of United Way’s family resource network.
At 1pm, Schwinabart said, everything was looking good and there was a steady flow of cars which made him and the rest of the United Way team feel “very hopeful”.
Schwinabart said he was very grateful to see the community come together even in such a difficult year to help others.
“Our community has just come together for this purpose and they are doing great things to help fill our food pantry,” said Schwinabart.
If you can’t stop by a food drive but still have a desire to help, Schwinabart says you can do it a number of ways. One of them is giving the United Way a call (304) 296-7525, or you can stop by the United Way which is located at 278-C Spruce Street Morgantown, WV 26505-7500.
