We care about our neighbors and are committed to doing what we can to reduce the impact of COVID-19. “

A $ 1 million donation and an additional $ 500,000 match program will bring more than 16 million meals to families in East Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas.

Best practices for safety

BGC continues to take proactive and preventive steps, including sanitation practices beyond our strict standards. Employees clean and sanitize shops and hard surfaces and gas stations throughout the day. We have contracted a professional third-party cleaning company to be placed if potential exposure has occurred. We have increased the frequency of cleaning surfaces such as shopping baskets and baskets, keypads, counter tops, etc. As a standard practice, there are cleaning wipes available near the shopping cart.

The company has provided education and signs in stores for customers and employees, with information for the CDC prevention protocol for the COVID-19 virus. The company has also stopped the practice of allowing customers to bring reusable bags to their stores. As much as BGC appreciates and shares in our customers’ commitment to sustainability, the company knows this is the right thing to do to better guard against the spread of COVID-19.

The BGC strongly recommends that the first two hours of operation be reserved as a time dedicated to senior citizens and emergency and critical responders. We ask customers to help respect this practice and move senior guests to the check-out line throughout the day.

BGC has posted decals in the field at the cashier to help customers practice social distance and find out how far it should be between them and other customers. As an additional layer of protection for customers and employees, clear partitions have been installed at checkout. The company has also established designated social monitors in each shop that are trained to ensure sanitation procedures and social distances are followed correctly.

As an “Essential Employer” designated by the federal and state governments, BGC stores continue to remain open for business because our services have been seen as critical to our country’s infrastructure. All employees have been told that they can wear gloves and masks to work if they want.

BGC has asked employees to improve health practices at work and at home to protect themselves, their families and customers in our stores.

In recognition and gratitude, BGC has provided a half-week bonus bonus, increased wages for those in our shops and logistics, applied additional employee discounts, provided food on site, and developed a compensation plan for those who might be directly affected by COVID-19.

BGC has recruited more than 1,700 new employees to help service business improvement in response to COVID-19. These new employees not only help the company serve the increasing needs of the community, but they also allow the team to take much needed leave. The company also employs people in the community who might be laid off.

BGC has also developed a tracking system and follows the CDC guidelines to deal with employees who may be exposed to viruses and those who have contracted the virus. The company has also followed isolation procedures and protocols for employees who are sick or exposed to the workplace which include payment of special compensation for those affected.

Easter Sunday hours

The All Brookshire, Super 1, FRESH by Brookshire, and Spring Market stores will open Easter Sunday from 8am to 5pm.

“As a Christian company, BGC has traditionally prided itself on observing the Christmas and Easter holidays but acknowledges the call to serve our neighbors during this difficult time,” said Brad Brookshire, Chair and CEO for Brookshire Grocery Co.

“Our founder, Wood T. Brookshire, believes it is a call given by God to serve humanity through the food business. Today, we also serve God by serving humans during these times. It was not an easy decision to break our 92-year history of closing at Easter, and we don’t take it easy. “

“Our customers have recognized our partner-employees as heroes for their services at the forefront and we are committed to being there for our customers through this,” said Trent Brookshire, Chief Operating Officer for Brookshire Grocery Co.

“We have no way to know when this pandemic will end, but we want our customers to know we are here for them. We are very grateful for the ongoing dedication of our employees and selfless service to our customers and we are glad they will be at home with their families for Easter dinner. ”

Most of our stores accept daily shipping and our employees provide stock throughout the day to be refilled. BGC works closely with suppliers to overcome disruptions that stores may experience. To support all customers in the 150 communities it serves, BGC stores have restrictions on certain high-demand items.

Brourbhire, Super 1, and FRESH hours by Brookshire on Curbside will reach 10:00 to 16:00. Personal shop buyers fulfill customer orders by selecting the latest available products and carefully following special instructions. Orders are delivered to the customer’s car at the scheduled pick up time in the roadside parking area.
