Lion Chips Food to help families after fire | Letter | Instant News

Contribution letter from Darlene Austin:

This morning (February 27), my husband Derrick and I want to donate to a family that lost their home last week. My son and I were at Food Lion, buying food to donate to my coworker’s brother, whose house, off Powell Road, caught fire last Wednesday (February 24).

I asked Food Lion’s cashier, Nathan, if I could leave food donations there for the family to pick up. He called his manager, Mr. Tracy Peterson, went to her register and asked if the store could or would allow me to do that. Mr. Peterson asked me what happened.

To my surprise, he didn’t just let me leave the stuff, he said Food Lion would donate it! I was overcome with joy. Clarksville is truly a caring and united community when community members are in crisis.

I truly believe in “teamwork makes dreams work.”

See God at work and in motion in our Clarksville community.
