GREENVILLE, NC (WNCT) – Greenville soup kitchens host dinner events on Sundays to combat food insecurity.
Workers with Joy Soup Kitchen work closely with local restaurants to provide food for those in need. They say it’s a way for them to get out in the community and let people know they are here to help.
Tom Quigley, chairman of Joy Soup Kitchen, said their efforts were needed in this community.
“We now serve nine meals a week there, and if we can serve the tenth meal to people with kids, people with food insecurities, you know they’ll get today’s fresh sandwiches as well as fruits and vegetables and food. light, “said Quigley. “It’s our way of trying to help as many people as we can all this time.”
Quigley said he appreciates everyone who supports nonprofits for helping them get on with their work.
