The German government has launched a nationwide campaign featuring hydrogen technology from Munich-based clean mobility startup KEYOU.
Innovationsland Deutschland, launched by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), aims to highlight Germany’s innovative spirit and inventiveness and make innovation topics accessible.
At the kick-off event on the 22ndnd September, KEYOU and two other German start-ups had the opportunity to speak with Federal Minister Anja Karliczek on a live broadcast. Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the event is taking place virtually.
“For us, this is a tremendous award, if not the largest we’ve received in recent years,” said Thomas Korn, CEO and co-founder of KEYOU.
The company has been working intensively on the development and formation of a hydrogen combustion engine since its inception in 2015.
In a moderated discussion for approximately ten minutes, Korn spoke with Karliczek about the motivation to start a company, but also about the challenges faced as a start-up.
“This event offers another great opportunity to put KEYOU and our hydrogen combustion engine and KEYOU-inside technology at the highest political level and, to further advance the topic of hydrogen,” added Korn.
In addition to Karliczek and EU Commissioner Mariya Gabriel, Chancellor Angela Merkel spoke to both the company and the audience in a video statement.
