The German Federal Central Tax Office March 20, updated guidelines on reporting requirements for financial institutions under the US Foreign Accounts Tax Compliance Act (FATCA). Updates include: 1) the July 31 delivery deadline for the 2019 reporting period; 2) test procedures for mass data transmission (ELMA); 3) new regulations regarding the US taxpayer identification number (TIN) for the 2020 reporting period; and 4) instructions for using the online portal, transferring XML files using ELMA, and contact forms.
