Cano Health CEO Marlow Hernandez be told “Tucker Carlson Tonight” Monday that doctors, not politicians must determine whether immunosuppressive drugs hydroxychloroquine worth a try as possible treatments for coronavirus.
“We have used it in several hundred of our patients and so far it is quite good,” Hernandez said. “We have lower hospitalizations and lower mortality.”
“We’ve used it in several hundred of our patients and so far it’s been pretty good.”
“We have 1,500 dedicated professionals with one mission, defeating this and using every tool. We have good knowledge and a great safety profile, so why not use it?”
President Trump and several other politicians have heralded hydroxychloroquine – a drug normally used to treat and prevent malaria – as a drug that might fight the corona virus after a number of small and initial tests described by some researchers as encouragement. However, many members of the mainstream media, as well as several governors and public health officials have criticized the president for promoting drugs before undergoing clinical trials.
“The corona virus pandemic is a medical problem, not a political problem and ultimately, it must be between the patient and his doctor,” Hernandez said.
“So if you are my patient and you suffer from COVID-19 or fever for several days, the body aches, maybe coughing, short breathing, don’t you want to talk to me about whether the drug is right for you?”
Hernandez said that although the drug has not yet undergone clinical trials on the virus, it is effective in treating patients.
“The corona virus pandemic is a medical problem, not a political problem and finally, it must be between the patient and his doctor.”
“There is science … little study … right now, we have good science, it’s not great but we are in the midst of this terrible pandemic [and] after everything is said and done, we will know the answer with certainty and at this time, we must pay attention to ourselves by using every possible tool, “he explained
Hernandez added that every medical professional must ask themselves if they do everything they can to help their patients after the pandemic ends.
“I want to be able to say yes and our professionals want to be able to answer yes,” he said. “So, that’s the problem.”
