Apex, N.C. – Several people, including employees and residents, at the UNC Rex Rehabilitation and Nursing Center of Apex have tested positive for the corona virus, Wake County health officials said. They refused to say how many cases had been reported or provided details between residents and staff.
This is the fourth long-term care facility in Wake County with a virus outbreak.

“As we have seen with previous outbreaks, coronaviruses can spread rapidly through communities where people live close to each other in relatively close proximity,” Dr. Jeff Williams said in a statement. Williams oversees the public health branch of Wake County’s Emergency Operations Center.
The Capital Care and Rehabilitation Center in Raleigh, Sunnybrook Rehabilitation in Raleigh and Wellington Rehabilitation and Health in Knightdale have previously reported the COVID-19 outbreak.
Officials have reported 2,217 positive cases in nursing homes and long-term care centers throughout the state.
